Softphone App on your Windows Computer

2 min. readlast update: 05.17.2024

Please follow the directions below to set up your extension on your desktop or mobile device.

You should have received a welcome email from the phone system. If you're using a mobile device, we will send you a QR code with that as well. However, this QR code is only valid for 24 hours from when the email has been sent. If you need an updated QR code, please email our team at support@key2.ca and request a new welcome email.

The welcome mail will have a subject line: Welcome to your Hosted PBX by Key2 Communications Inc.

The email will look like this.

It will have all your details. Ext number, password, website URL and Link to download on your computer

For your Desktop, click on Get it from Microsoft, download and install it.

When you load up the App, you'll see the following screen.

If you look at the welcome email, you'll see where it says "URL for logging in:" you'll see one for your company. Our example is demo2.key2pbx.ca; please use the one from your welcome email.

Enter your URL for logging in. Please use the full name https://yourcompany.key2pbx.ca then click on Connect.

Then you'll need to enter your extension number and a password.

Please enter your extension number and password from the welcome email. Then click on Login. Make sure you click on Remember login information so that you do not need to get the password the next time you open the app.

You'll see some call data on your screen. At the top is where you enter the phone number you wish to dial.

When using this App, the calls will appear as if they are coming from the company phone number.

At the top, you'll see some headers.

Calls: See the most recent calls to you
Message: This is used if you have text messaging. You can text message each other between extensions if you wish. You can not send outbound text messages to mobile devices.
Voicemail: If you have any voicemails, you can click and listen or delete them.
Recording: You can listen to your previous calls if you have enabled call recording.
Address Book: You can save numbers in your address book for recent calls etc.
Queue: If you're apart of a queue, you can see call details etc, of that Queue.
