Feature or Star Codes

Here are the most common star codes or feature codes used with E-MetroTel.

Access your Voicemail - *97 - Your default password will be 829 + your extension ie 829200  for extension 200. On your first login, it will ask you to record your name, a personal greeting and change your voicemail password


Access Voicemail System - *98 (This is used when your at another phone in your office and you wish to access your voicemail. It will ask you to enter your mailbox number, which is your extension, then your voicemail password)


DND Toggle - Do Not Disturb - *76 If you're on a Teams Meeting or Zoom Meeting you can put your phone into DND mode. This will force all calls to your voicemail. When this feature is enabled, your phone will not ring. Just remember to Dial *76 to disable the DND after your meeting.


Call Forward Activate - *72 You will need to provide the number you wish to forward your calls to. You can forward to a mobile number or another extension
Call Forward Deactivate - *73


Directed Call Pickup - PIckup a call on another phone | Dial ** followed by the extension number that is ringing. Example **100


Program Buttons on your phone - You can program buttons on your phone for a speed dial and a BLF (Busy Lamp Field). BLF will show the status of the internal extension if the user is on a call or not. This can also act like a speed dial button as well.

If you're using an E-MetrotTel phone, you'll see a Feature button on the bottom left of the screen.

If you have a Nortel Phone, you will have a button labelled Feature or you'll have an icon that looks like this

To program a speed dial for an external number, press the Feature button, then * then press the 1 key, and then it will ask you to select the button you wish you program. This can also be used for internal numbers as well, but you will not get the extension status if they are on the phone or not like a BLF. Internal Speed dial can be used for Ring Groups as well.

 

Press the button you wish to program, then enter the phone number you wish to have a speed dial to.

When done press the Enter button or OK if on a Nortel Phone

To program a BLF (A speed dial and extension status button all in one) **If you're adding this to a side card, you will also getting a bonus of a red light / green light status if the user is on the phone or not.

To program the BLF button, press the Feature button, then * then 2. Then press the button you wish to program.

 

Then input the extension you wish to have on that BLF.

 

Then press Enter or OK once you have input the extension number.

Then you'll see the button showing the extension with the extension name

Then when that person is on the phone, the icon will change.

If this button is on a side card, you'll see a status light beside the button that will be Green when they are not on the phone, and Red when they are on a call.
